Optical sorters use advanced components and engineering to deliver top-tier sorting performance. They can automatically inspect and remove various contaminants from bulk products, such as glass, plastic, wood, shells, and stones. Additionally, these systems eliminate discolored, diseased, or misshaped items. TDI Packsys optical sorters excel at this with precise air jets that efficiently remove defects. They are ideal for sorting a wide range of harvested products, including peanuts, nuts, grains, seeds, fruits, dehydrated vegetables, corn, and more.
Using advanced optoelectronic technology, optical sorters detect and remove defective materials from bulk products. They identify visual differences based on user-defined criteria, enabling swift removal of defective items and contaminants, or separation by grade or type.
Identify and sort foreign matter and impurities in nuts, spices, seeds, grains, beans, rice, plastics, snacks, and fresh/frozen/dehydrated fruits and vegetables.
TDI Packsys’s advanced AI inspection suite learns your products and inspects based on:
Optical color sorters offer a new perspective in food inspection with the use of optical tech rather than conductivity (metal detectors) or density (x-ray).
Optical color sorters work by passing the product down a chute and into a small freefall. In this freefall, LEDs are used to illuminate the product, and a series of cameras capture the product image as it falls.
Color sorter technology allows the user to select which colors are ‘good’ product, and everything else is read as a contaminant and rejected.
This technology allows low density, non-conductive contaminants to be located inside of bulk product.
